Sprawdzamy kolejne lotnisko pod względem przystosowania dla rodzin z małymi dziećmi- czyli Pia na Cyprze (We are checking another airport for its suitability for families with small children - meaning Pia in Cyprus).
The vacation is passing mercilessly, and due to exhaustion from the Torun climate, we decided to look for a place for an immediate few-day break, which, as it turned out, was not an easy task. Everything was booked in Sopot, and prices at our favorite Dylewskie Hills were like in Monte Carlo. So, not to break Pia's habit of flying, we decided to take advantage of a nearby vacation destination. Egypt was in turmoil, Turkey attacked us with gyros and kebabs from every corner (even the Doner Kebab moved into our health clinic), Tunisia and Morocco are not our climate, so we were left with Spain, our favorite Italy, Greece, and Cyprus. The evaluation of quality, price, and availability turned out to be most advantageous for Cyprus, and here we are after an hour in place ;) - Robert falls asleep with the little one on the last seats of the transfer bus, and I take advantage of the surprise that the travel agency that deals with reporting work has provided us. Oh... you wonder what this surprise is - I'll answer - classic. In the description, our hotel was supposed to be 20 minutes from the airport, but somehow we landed at a different airport than was expected, in Larnaca, and we have a free 2-hour trip to the hotel. You can get angry. Pia and we have been up since 3:20, and now this surprise. Additionally, a friendly and relaxed resident just before leaving the airport smiled and assured us that the 120 minutes on the bus were a great thing because we wouldn't have to wait for our rooms at the hotel (they will already be prepared). Super, she will probably have a conversation with us when she tries to sell us twice as expensive excursions.
The first lesson from our trip to Cyprus is, if possible, plan trips on your own. This is our first vacation trip with a travel agency in several years. After booking a hotel in Sharm el Sheikh, also 20 minutes from the airport, and landing at the airport in the city of Taba, 5 hours away from the hotel, we told ourselves that we would never travel with a travel agency again, but unfortunately, we did not stick to our decisions, and that's what happened. Not only was it torture for our Beloved Grzdylka, but the travel agency fooled us twice with the same trick.
Wakacje mijają nieubłaganie więc ze względu na przemęczenie toruńskimi klimatami postanowiliśmy poszukać jakiegoś miejsca na natychmiastowy, kilkudniowy wypoczynek co, jak się okazało, nie było łatwym zadaniem. Ocena jakości, ceny i dostępności okazała się najkorzystniejsza dla Cypru i cóż jesteśmy od godziny na miejscu ;) - Robert przysypia z Małą na ostatnich siedzeniach autokaru transferowego, a ja korzystają z niespodzianki, które zapewniło nam biuro podróży zajmuję się pracą sprawozdawczą. Ach... zastanawiacie się jaka to niespodzianka - odpowiem - klasyczna. W opisie nasz hotel miał być 20 minut do lotniska, ale jakoś wylądowaliśmy, na innym iż było przewidywane lotnisku, w Larnace i mamy gratis 2 godzinną wycieczkę do hotelu. Można się wściec. Pia i my od 3.20 na nogach, a tu taka niespodzianka. Dodatkowo miła, wyluzowana rezydentka tuż przed wyjazdem z lotniska z uśmiechem zapewniła nas, że to super sprawa te 120 minut w autobusie bo nie będziemy musieli czekać na pokoje w hotelu (będą już przygotowane). Super to raczej będzie miała ona rozmowę z nami, gdy będzie próbowała wcisnąć nam zapewne dwukrotnie droższe wycieczki.
Pierwszy morał naszej wyprawy na Cypr to, jeżeli jest to możliwe, planujcie wyjazdy sami. To nasz pierwszy do kilku lat wyjazd na wakacje z biurem podróży. Po tym jak zarezerwowaliśmy hotel w Sharm el Sheikh - też 20 minut od lotniska, a wylądowaliśmy w na lotnisku w mieście Taba 5 godzin drogi od hotelu powiedzieliśmy sobie, że nigdy więcej z biurem podróży, ale niestety nie trzymaliśmy się swych postanowień i masz ci los. Nie dość, że męka i udręka dla naszego Ukochanego Grzdylka to jeszcze drugi raz biuro podróży nas nacięło na ten sam numer.
Uwaga na lotnisku w Larnaka nie dostaniecie wózka przy wyjściu z samolotu tylko po 30-40 minutach w punkcie wydawania bagaży ponad gabarytowych. Czyli musicie być przygotowania na ok. 400-500 metrów spaceru objuczeni torbami i z Maluszkiem na ręku, a potem długie czekanie na bagaż i wózek (mi się to troszkę nie uśmiechało, gdyż nasza Pia, mimo że 6 i pół miesięczna, to wymiary ma rocznego dziecka, tak więc te nieplanowane 40 minut z ponad dziewięcio kilowym dzieckiem na rękach nie było przyjemne).
Wiem, to są detale i ktoś może pomyśleć, że się czepiam. Dla dorosłych takie utrudnienia to drobnostki, ale jak dodamy do tego kilkumiesięcznego Maluszka to wszystko przedstawia się w innej optyce.
Powracając do narzekania odnośnie transferu z lotniska z 20 km zrobiło się ostatecznie 140 km. W końcu dotarliśmy i..... Hotel cypryjskie 5* to faktycznie 4* tyle, że z dwie dekady temu. Teraz można by dać solidne 3*. Dość czysto i schludnie, ale dla nas Mam nigdy dość ostrożności. Pierwszy spacer to przechadzka po zakupy - \woda, owoce dla małej, chałwa dla Taty, butelka lokalnego białego wina dla Taty (ja tylko spróbuje czy chałwa nie za słodka, a wino nie korkowe) i co najważniejsze środek do mycia ceramiki w komplecie z dwiema rolkami ręczników. Nie rekomenduję zabierania ostrej chemii do bagażu ponieważ przy różnicach ciśnień istnieje ryzyko poluzowania się korka i zalania zawartość walizki. Tak więc rekomenduję zaopatrzyć się w takie środki na miejscu.
Mam nadzieję, że będę miała okazję podzielić się również i pozytywnymi aspektami tegoż wyjazdu. Jednakże muszę troszkę najpierw odetchnąć po tak męczącej podróży, by w ogóle móc je dostrzec ;-)
Second lesson and advice - be careful with airlines - we flew with Small Planet and the word "Small" fits them perfectly! The least legroom in the history of our hundreds of flights. Small also applies to their passenger service - everything, even water, comes at a fee. Fortunately, using the dirty restroom didn't require payment.
Note for Larnaca airport: you won't get a stroller upon exiting the plane, but rather after waiting for 30-40 minutes at the oversize luggage pickup point. So be prepared for a 400-500 meter walk while carrying your bags and a baby, and then a long wait for your luggage and stroller. This wasn't fun for me, since our Pia, even though only 6 and a half months old, has the size of a one-year-old child.
I know these are details, and someone might think I'm nitpicking. For adults, these difficulties are minor, but when we add a few-month-old baby to the equation, everything looks different.
Returning to complaints about the transfer from the airport - a distance of 20 km turned into 140 km. We finally arrived at the Cypriot 5-star hotel, which is actually a 4-star hotel from a couple of decades ago. Now it could be given a solid 3 stars. Fairly clean and tidy, but Mom never has enough caution. The first walk was a shopping trip - water, fruits for the little one, halva for Dad, a bottle of local white wine for Dad (I'll just try if the halva isn't too sweet and the wine isn't corked), and most importantly, a ceramic cleaning agent with two rolls of towels included. I don't recommend taking strong chemicals in your luggage because of the risk of the cork coming loose and spilling the contents of your suitcase due to pressure differences. So I recommend getting these products locally.
I hope to have the opportunity to share some positive aspects of this trip as well. However, I need to catch my breath after such a tiring journey, just to be able to notice them ;-)
