Traveling from Verona to Trento, it was hard to believe that there was still snow somewhere in the vicinity. Of course, you could see the snow-capped peaks from the road, but the white powder seemed inaccessible to lovers of "white madness." The assessment of the situation began to change dramatically as we covered more kilometers along the winding road leading to Monte Bondone. When we arrived at our hotel located in the village of Vason at an altitude of 1650 meters above sea level, the thermometer no longer showed +13 degrees Celsius, but -10 degrees Celsius, and the entire settlement was covered with over a meter of snow. The air was freezing but at the same time impeccably clean. Ah, I love the mountains in winter, especially the early March period when I constantly suffer from some unbearable allergy in Poland! After a rather challenging journey, we finally reached the hotel, which once again pleasantly surprised us. Not that I saw everything through rose-colored glasses, but I have stayed in many sports hotels for skiers in Italy, as well as nearby hotels at Milan's fairs, and I have also had encounters with apartments in Italian summer resorts... and I must admit that this time I was surprised by the cleanliness, service, tidiness, and attention to detail. However, certain drawbacks also caught our attention, especially since we were hungry after the trip and realized that our hotel's cuisine had nothing to do with Italian cuisine. But I will discuss this topic further in the next post ;-) It is also worth mentioning the hotel's location. It is located less than 400 meters from the main base of Monte Bondone ski resort, unfortunately, it is 400 meters uphill. Fortunately, ski equipment rental shops are located directly by the slope, offering ski and boot storage for a small fee.
For our little one, the most important thing was, of course, the snow, building a snowman, throwing snowballs, and soft Haribo gummy bears :). The village of Vason met all expectations in this regard, so Pia was very content.
