After several hours of sea voyage, we arrived from Grenada to Barbados with one goal in mind: to relax on the beach. The intensive sightseeing on the previous two islands had exhausted us a bit, and the stories about the extraordinary beaches of Barbados convinced us that Pia's first encounter with the sea should take place on this island.
To our surprise, we encountered a well-organized tourist infrastructure reflected in the prices. But before we started looking for safe and affordable transportation to the beach, Pia went on a little shopping spree, resulting in the acquisition of a sweet, pink hat - as it turned out, essential for joyfully playing in the sand and splashing in the warm sea.
Our search for accessible transportation proved unsuccessful. The taxi prices at the port are fixed (price collusion), so the cost of getting to the beach was $15 per person. Lamenting the expense, we decided not to waste time and boarded an expensive, non-air-conditioned bus to our destination.
The well-known saying "the first cat over the fence" fortunately proved true. The beach we landed on was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. Beautiful white sand with a hint of pink, warm, crystal-clear water, and the sun (strong but not like an oven in the Persian Gulf) with stunning views.
A few hours of fun in the sand and water passed by extremely quickly. Pia was delighted with the new experiences. As you can imagine from the joyfully wild play, our little daughter succumbed to overwhelming fatigue, so we immediately decided to evacuate to Bridgetown.
Persistent and unfriendly taxi drivers this time offered transportation to Bridgetown for $20 per person, but we managed to reach the capital by a local bus for a total of $4 (including a tip), enjoying the company of friendly locals. Pia, of course, fell asleep as soon as she got on the bus. Equally exhausted, we took a short walk through the city and headed back to the ship.
Barbados is undoubtedly a paradise for beach lovers, but beware of the prices and scammers. Luckily, for us Poles, it's not a problem... genetically, we know how to deal with people who try to take advantage of us ;)
